ABOUT US

The National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center is operated by the Bureau of Land Management and brings the rich history of America’s westward expansion to life through immersive exhibits, interactive programs, and breathtaking landscapes.

Nestled in the stunning Blue Mountains of Eastern Oregon, the Interpretive Center has been a cornerstone of historical education since its original opening. After undergoing significant renovations, we proudly celebrated our grand reopening in 2024. With multiple energy-efficiency updates, we look forward to expanding our exhibits and programs in the coming years.

With a blend of historical exhibits, engaging programs, and dynamic events, NHOTIC provides visitors with opportunities to explore the diverse stories of the Oregon Trail and beyond. Whether you're discovering the daily lives of pioneers, learning about the cultural impact of westward expansion, or experiencing history through hands-on activities, there’s always something new to uncover.
